THE EXPERTS CONTRIBUTION

THE EXPERTS CONTRIBUTION

EFORT aims to provide worthy scientific guidance via the presentation of well-established medical techniques, but also to highlight new evidence in emerging fields. Renowned experts will discuss their procedures, the rationale for their decisions, their successes and failures. At the Congress, an important source of international knowledge and experience in the prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system will be within your reach. The EFORT scientific sessions are training programs with high scientific value. Authors invited to contribute to the scientific content of the Congress by presenting their work orally should adhere to the same standards, as their contributions are an essential part of the core programme.

As EFORT is the biggest European platform to share orthopaedic and trauma knowledge, an active participation in our upcoming 2023 Congress in Vienna, Austria, is the best opportunity to identify new data related to any specialty, gather useful tips and tricks to enhance daily medical achievements and expand the professional network.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION IS NOW CLOSED!

All abstracts are currently under review. Any specific query regarding changes in abstracts needs to be addressed by email to [email protected].

Each year, members of the worldwide orthopaedics and traumatology community share with EFORT abstracts with compelling clinical and experimental results from different levels of scientific knowledge, as well as many systematic reviews. After the closure of online submission, the EFORT Science Committee selects the best work to be showcased in the congress abstract-based sessions.

To obtain a legitimate average score and a standard deviation that allows correct assessment of the scores’ variability, every abstract receives a minimum of three scores performed by three different. A pool of dedicated reviewers with outstanding medical and educational handle the scoring with extreme professionalism.

The review of abstracts submitted for the upcoming EFORT Congress to be held from 24 to 26 May 2023, will be performed as a blind process that is carried out exclusively through our online scientific platform by mid-January 2023. During this process, abstracts are scored based on different parameters, as follows:

  • scientific and clinical value;
  • relevance to the orthopaedics and traumatology (O&T) community’s needs;
  • suitability of methods to aims;
  • confirmation of conclusions by results;
  • objectivity of statements; and
  • originality of the work and overall added value to the current knowledge in the field.

On top of these general principles, additional criteria are graded on point scales, such as problem description, design, control group, materials, methods, results and conclusions.

All review criteria are evaluated independently and reviewers base their scores only on the information contained in the abstract (no estimates or projections allowed). The mean score is used as the cut-off point for acceptance.

EFORT reserves the right to reject your abstract if previously presented and/or change the main category and/or the type of presentation of your abstract(s).

Please note that registered participant can have a maximum of six abstracts (three orals and three posters) accepted within the scientific programme of the congress.

Authors and co-authors will receive acceptance/rejection notifications on Tuesday 31 January 2023.

The presenting author of a selected abstract must undertake to attend the Congress and present the abstract in the session and at the time designated by the EFORT Science Committee.

EFORT requires each presenting author to complete his/her full registration to the congress to validate his/her abstracts in the final scientific programme.

Deadline for registration of presenting authors is Monday 15 March 2023, 23:59 CET.
